SD Doctors Must Obey State Law

28 06 2008

And now for the good news. The Christian News Wire is reporting that the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that doctors must obey a law in South Dakota while the consitutionality of the law is litigated in court.

This decision requires abortion providers tell women, in writing, that the abortion procedure “will terminate the life of a whole, separate, unique, living human being.”

A spokeswoman for the Intervenor Alpha Center, Kimberly Martinez, said, “We are delighted by the Court’s decision. Alpha Center exists to tell South Dakota women the whole truth about their pregnancies. Thanks to today’s decision by the court, women are now going to be given the truth by abortion providers, who have been fighting to avoid doing so for years.”

11-Year-Old Romanian Allowed to Have Abortion

28 06 2008

The Christian Post is reporting that the Romanian government has ruled that an 11-year-old girl who was raped and impregnated by her 19-year-old uncle will be allowed to have an abortion.

Pro-life Christian Orthodox groups had threatened to press charges if the girl was allowed to have an abortion in Romania since it would be beyond the 14 week legal limit. The girl is 21 weeks pregnant.

The stance of the church groups was in contrast to the Romanian Orthodox Church’s official view that the decision should be left to the girl’s family. The parents initially wanted to travel to a country where it would be legal.

“We are talking about … the rights of this child who was subjected to rape and incest,” said Theodora Bertzi, a Labor Ministry official and who was sitting on a committee, made up of government officials and experts, who ruled on the case.

Constantin Stoica, spokesman for the Romanian Orthodox Church, to which more than 80 percent of Romanians belong, said Wednesday it was “an exceptional situation which must be treated in an exceptional manner and the family is the only one to take this decision.”

He said the church considers abortion a crime, but this belief applies to normal circumstances and not to incest or rape.

I don’t understand why the manner in which a woman becomes pregnant should determine if the baby should be killed or not. A baby is a baby, no matter where the sperm came from. Yes, the fact that this little girl was abused is a terrible crime. Yes, to carry the pregnancy to full-term and deliver the baby would be a traumatic experience. But to resolve the crime that happened to this girl by committing another crime–the murder of an unborn baby–is not right.

According to the article, the pro-life Christian Orthodox church groups offered to help the family with financial and spiritual aid and even offered to help raise the child if the girl gave birth. Think about the long-term effects on this girl if she has the abortion. When she’s old enough to understand what happened, she is sure to experience an agonizing guilt and horror at what her family made her do.

The Audacity of Obama–Smooching Babies

25 06 2008

Leading Pro-Life blogger Jill Stanek posts a link to a video clip of Senator Obama, who is fiercely pro-abortion, smooching the kiddies. How ironic–no, chilling–that the man who wouldn’t have minded if these same children would have been killed just a year or so ago. What a hypocrite. In Jill’s words:

And the idiotic parents of these infants? Obama plants their children with the Kiss of Death, don’t they understand? SendBarackYourBaby.com? What, to kill the baby?

And CNN. How could anyone put a fluff piece together like this and ignore Obama’s extreme positions on abortion? Only someone like-minded who wants to cover for Obama and make him look the opposite of what he is. And was anyone else bothered by the way the reporter threw the baby in the box?

A Response to “Beware of ‘Pro-Life’ Politicians”

25 06 2008

Dr. Robert O. Uppgaard wrote an opinion piece in PineandLakes.com that cautioned us to be wary of politicians who say they are pro-life but then want to de-fund programs that “improve life”.

They say government should stay out of our lives, but want to force women to carry a clump of dividing cells to term, regardless if they can care for a child without abuse or neglect.

When the fetal alcohol, meth and crack babies reach school age, the politicians can then blame the public schools for failing to teach advanced algebra to the brain damaged children under No Child Left Behind.

Where to begin? First, Uppgaard uses the classic tactic of referring to a living human as a “clump of dividing cells”. This is just his way of de-humanizing the baby in order to rationalize the decidedly inhumane treatment that he advocates using on it.

Then he uses the phrase “regardless if they can care for a child without abuse or neglect”. Only his prior statement of de-humanization allows him to follow with this phrase. Otherwise, he would have to logically support killing already-born children who happen to be the victims of abuse or neglect. I dare say (although don’t guarantee) that Dr. Uppgaard would not support that.

Then he refers to crack and meth babies. I suppose that these are the babies he wishes would have been aborted. Yes, these babies are brought into the world at a disadvantage not of their making, but there are plenty of loving families who would be more than willing to provide care for them. Dr. Uppgaard only sees them as a burden on society because (I assume) he sees the government as the only institution that can provide care for them. And since we, the public, pay for the government programs, we are the ones who are burdened.

The rest of his opinion piece is about economics of big government and higher taxes. I just wanted to challenge his assertions relating to abortion.

Abortion Center Owners Charged

25 06 2008

Lifenews.com is reporting that San Diego County prosecutors officially charged two owners of a chain of abortion clinics with practicing without a license and grand theft.

Bertha Pinedo Bugarin stands accused of telling women considering abortions that she was a licensed medical doctor. She also illegally prescribed the women drugs that only a licensed physician can prescribe.

Prosecutors said Bugarin’s actions put women at risk and cited one case involving a woman who had to be rushed to the hospital because of a life-threatening medical condition.

“This defendant preyed on women in the Hispanic community,” San Diego County Dist. Atty. Bonnie Dumanis said during the Friday hearing, according to the Los Angeles Times. “By passing herself off as a doctor, she put these women’s lives in serious danger.”

Dumanis said nine former patients identified Bertha Bugarin as the Clinica Medica de la Mujer abortion center owner who masqueraded as a physician.

She said one woman ultimately gave birth prematurely to a baby who lived for three hours before dying. A second paid $500 for an abortion and had to return a second time because the abortion procedure failed to remove all of the body of the unborn child.

Of course, the pro-choice crowd would say, “See? This is what would happen if you make abortion illegal. Women would be forced to go to persons who are operating in the shadows illegally.” Here’s what Abort73.com has to say about this:

Ostensibly, this argument is made in the name of safety. “If women can’t abort legally, they’ll do so illegally, and it will be much more dangerous for them.” While this claim is not true, even it were, nothing would change. Abortion would still be unjustified. Wouldn’t it be absurd to try and legalize armed robbery by arguing that granting such measures would make it much safer for the burglars to obtain what they’re trying to steal? Laws must protect the potential victim, not the potential assailant.

The first post!

21 06 2008

Hello! Thanks for visiting “Save the Little Humans”. My goal is to persuade:
- Those who are pregnant and considering abortion to consider the non-violent alternatives to abortion
- Those who call themselves pro-choice to see the act of abortion for what it really is–the taking of another (innocent) human’s life.
- Those who haven’t really thought much about the issue of abortion to see the truth and see through the arguments of the pro-abortion crowd
- Those who are pro-life but have remained silent on the sidelines to join the fight and DO SOMETHING to change the hearts and minds of a society that has continued to decrease the value placed on human life.

My main method of trying to achieve these goals is to publicize stories from a variety of sources that
highlight what is happening concerning abortion–stories about both sides of the issue, with a little of my own commentary thrown in for good measure.

I also plan to link to the leading voices from the pro-life movement and point to other bloggers like me who might not have the highest number of visits per day, but still are devoted to defending the lives of our “little humans”.

Finally, I would point everyone to Abort73.com. They are an excellent source of information for anyone looking to educate themselves on the issue of abortion. Video, audio, banners, flyers, clothing–they’ve got everything you’re looking for.

Read on and God bless you!
